Answer #1:
When you say spray paint, I have to assume that you mean cans of spray paint from the store,? For small areas these can do a decent job, with plenty of practice, however, if you're going to do a large panel or any large amount of area on anything, they just don't put out a good enough pattern for good coverage. So, you say you're going to be painting two or three colors, which means there's going to be masking involved. When you get to the spraying part, make sure you start the spray before you get to the area to be painted, and continue off the far edge before shutting the spray off. This motion should be straight from one side to the other, staying as close to the same gap from the painted item at the end as at the beginning. There are some plastic handle attachments that you can buy which fit right on the top of the spray cans and make it seem much more like you're using a real spray gun than a can. Be sure to get good even coverage, not so much as to make a run. Any time you can spray paint anything laying down flat, it's better to do it that way than to have it vertical. Allow adequate time to dry between coats, and some extra time for drying before pulling masking and putting more down.Answer #2:
if you have an O'Reilly's Auto Parts, go ask the guys who mix paint what they think, they sell automotivepaint in spray cans as well. The paint has to be the type that works with clear coat; not all do. If they do require clear coat, it will say so and also give sanding instructions. Of course, some other parts store might give same help.
Answer #3:
You can use regular auto paint with clear coat without a compressor. They make a small spray can of compressed air with a paint jar attached .This can be found at the home center, you will need to buy extra air cans to complete the job. Good luck** Powered by Yahoo Answers
